Launching a New Blog?
I just discovered a pretty cool option for pre-launching a new blog.
Let’s say you have a great blog under construction – you’re adding some page content and working on a killer theme. You’d like to tell people about your impending project but you’re not ready to let them see things.
Enter the ‘Under Construction’ Theme.
With the UnderCon theme or the LaunchPad theme, you can display a simple RSS optin message on your home page, all the while you can be working on your ‘real’ theme and getting page content loaded.
I like this – especially because it invites visitors to subscribe to the RSS feed by email – so they’ll know the moment you go LIVE with your first blog post.

I think thats a great idea. Right now I have a simple “under construction” page, without a rss feed on it… but you brought up a great point, if they subscribe they can be notified when i go live!

Nice way to handle prelaunch visits. I think most people tell a few folks about their domain before there is actually a site on it ..but very few capitalize on it. thanks for the post.

Thanks for the post. I am going to start using the idea. It will take a lot of stress out of me because previously I used to worry a lot about having to finnish the project quickly. This is a good short term solution

That’s a great idea, every wp template should have an “under construction” version.

Having the RSS feed up right away while you work on SEO website design of your blog is a fantastic idea! Thanks for sharing this way to get subscribers before the final blog is launched.

Thanks Kelly! Usually when I’m updating a site or working on a theme I don’t do anything special…with this I can at least build a list and hit the ground running when the site finally launches
